Affected Crops: Cotton, soybeans.
Identification: The
plant can grow to 3 feet tall, with leaf blades measuring 3/4-inches
wide. It can be identified by its white mid-rib and smooth, flattened
stems. The ligule is made up of a dense ring of white hairs.
Geographical Distribution: Central
and eastern North America and West. This upright annual is an
aggressive, widespread weed which is particularly an eastern problem.
