Shark is a postemergence product that makes
controlling broadleaf weeds and sedges in rice easier than before. You
can apply it earlier. Shark is applied by air so there is no hassle
using ground application equipment. It does not require draining or
lowering the water level in basins. And it controls key broadleaf weeds
and sedges, including those tolerant to ALS herbicides. Making it the
perfect partner for weed control in rice.

Quick REFLEXES
Tough broadleaf weeds and sedges such as Ricefield
Bulrush, Smallflower Umbrellaplant, Redstem (Purple Ammannia or Redstem
Ammannia) and California Arrowhead do not stand a chance against
Shark®. A post-seeding application for early weed control is now
available as a result of an SLN (special local need) 24C label for
direct dry application or direct stream application by air in
California. Applied sooner than most competitive products, Shark takes
out weeds early to maximize yields. Less weed competition early means
your rice crop gets off to a healthier start.
How it CONTROLS WEEDS
Thanks to its unique new mode of action, Shark controls
broadleaf weeds and sedges that have become tolerant to some ALS
herbicides. Plus, when applied in a sequential program with grass
herbicides such as Ordram®, Bolero®, Abolish® or Cerano™, you get the
broad-spectrum control needed to protect your yield.
Shark can be applied by air utilizing a direct dry
application (DDA) which delivers dry formulated product that disperses
quickly in water. You can also use direct stream application (DSA)*
with Shark applied by air as a very coarse liquid stream. The active
ingredient is absorbed into the foliage of weeds to inhibit
photosynthesis, which ultimately provides weed control.
Into THE DEEP
Keeping the water at the right depth is critical for
successful rice growth and weed control. But, many herbicides require
that you drop the water level or even drain your checks. Fortunately
with Shark, you can maintain your water levels. And a continuous flood
helps optimize weed control and yield potential. Plus, you do not have
to deal with the expense and time of draining water. Note, the water
hold for Shark is now just 30 days.
A big appetite FOR BROADLEAF WEEDS AND SEDGES
Shark offers an important spectrum of broadleaf weed control. And it works quickly on the weeds it targets.
With Shark, you will get superior weed control to
reach greater yield potential. In fact, rice growers who have used
Shark say its performance has been excellent. And now, California rice
growers can obtain the kind of protection they have always wanted for
their yields. All it takes is a little Shark. Talk to your pest control
advisor or extension specialist for information on sequential programs
that fit your specific needs.
Powerful Control For Strong Yields.
Shark® herbicide not only gets your rice off to a
healthy start, it also protects the yield potential of your crop. Be
sure to consult your pest control advisor or extension specialist for
information on sequential programs that fit your specific needs.
*If your system requires, you can use the DSA
(direct stream application) method with ground application equipment.
Contact your FMC representative to confirm the proper configuration of
your direct stream equipment. Always read and follow all label
directions carefully. Shark is registered in California under a FIFRA
Section 3. Limitations on use: labeled for uses other than DDA and DSA.
For DDA and DSA treatments on rice, see the SLN (special local need)
24C labels, which are pending registration in California for the 2003
use season.
