Mustang is an incredibly effective tool for
controlling a broad spectrum of rice insect pests. But these benefits
don't come without responsibility. In addition to the label
requirements, there are a few key management practices to keep in mind
when you use Mustang insecticide.
-
Assure the longest residual control.
Use the highest labeled rate, timing the first application to the first major pest that reaches threshold levels.
-
Observe the maximum limits.
A maximum of 1.1 pints (0.2 lb. a.i./A) of Mustang may be applied per acre per season.
-
Wait to release floodwater.
Do not release floodwater into a treated field within seven days of an application.
-
Practice good insecticide management.
Applications of Mustang are effective in controlling major rice
pests and others which pose an occasional problem. To protect bees, do
not allow spray drift to contract hives or blooming weeds. Follow all
labeled application information and precautions.
-
Protect fish and aquatic life.
Mustang is a restricted use pesticide due to its toxicity to fish
and other aquatic organisms. Do not apply by ground equipment within 25
feet, or by air within 150 feet of lakes, reservoirs, rivers, permanent
streams, marshes or natural ponds, estuaries or commercial fish farm
ponds. Observe all Spray Drift Precautions contained in the product
label.
